C-158 / C-258 | Heavy Pattern Hose Bibb with Breaker & BFP

PRIER’s anti-siphon angle sill faucets are designed for areas that require water service with an anti-siphon backflow check valve connection, but are not subject to freezing temperatures. Typical installations include outdoor connections in mild climates or any indoor installation for residential, commercial, institutional and industrial applications. The heavy pattern design with solid brass stem assures years of reliable service with minimal maintenance. An optional valve box is available in either satin nickel or brass finish.

Product Support

PRIER has been manufacturing the C-158 Anti-Siphon Hose Bibb since the late 1980's. This product has all the time tested features of our C-138 series, with the added protection of a vacuum breaker and backflow preventor. It is a simple operating product that is fairly simple to repair. Possible Repair Issues for the C-158 Angle Sill Faucet include:

1. When the water is running, water leaks out from behind the handle

This is a common maintenance occurrence for any packed valve of any brand or manufacture. It is overcome by simply tightening the packing nut with a crescent wrench. This will force the packing tighter around the stem to eliminate leakage.

Occasionally, the packing will need to be replaced if the packing nut has been repeatedly tightened.

2. The hose bibb drips after shutoff

The angle sill faucet/hose bibb may drip for a few moments after shutoff. If the water continues to drip after that time, you most likely need to replace the bibb washer.

PRIER utilizes a 1/4 L beveled bibb washer for angle sill faucets. This bibb washer is a standard 1/4 L beveled bibb washer, available from your plumbing supply house. The appropriate kit for this item is part # C-135KT-802.

4. The stem end is damaged and I cannot operate the freezeless hydrant

Occasionally the stem of the PRIER hose bibb gets damaged beyond repair. This is most commonly caused by the hydrant being operated by pliers and damaging the brass on the end.

The proper replacement stem for the C-158 is part # 231-0001.

5. How do I convert the hose bibb to loose key?

The rubber washer inside the vacuum breaker has failed and needs to be replaced. This is accomplished by unthreading the vacuum breaker from the body of the hydrant and replacing the internals. The vacuum breaker is sealed to the body with a body sealant and may require heat to break loose.

Installation Instructions:
To repair the vacuum breaker on any of the above items, it first needs to be removed from the valve. The vacuum breaker is sealed to the valve and needs to be heated with a torch to be removed. Once it is removed you can reinstall the new parts in the order as shown above.
